Exposed
Aggregate is a concrete
and stone mixture that produces a surface similar to natural pebble.
It provides a non-skid surface that is perfect for driveways, pool
decks, walkways and steps. It's natural look can be enhanced when
used along with traditional or colored concrete. Stones
used in this process are typically small, smooth river rock about
the size of a pea to a quarter.
Process
The
ground is excavated, leveled and compacted.
The
concrete-stone mix is poured into the prepared area and a retarder
is painted onto the surface.
The
stone is exposed by washing down the surface.
After
the area has cured, it is sealed with an acrylic-based sealant
to bring out the color and to protect it from the elements.
