decorative concrete |

- Where can stamped concrete be used?
- Stamped concrete can be used anywhere traditional/standard concrete is
used and where you want a more decorative finish. Pool decks,
driveways, sidewalks and patios are typical installations for
homeowners.
- How
does stamped concrete hold up vs standard concrete?
- Decorative
concrete is just like standard concrete and should last for many,
many years. You can help your concrete last longer by having it
resealed every 2-3 years.
- How
much does stamped concrete cost?
- Because
each job is as individual as it's owner, we cannot provide "per
square foot" pricing. Pricing for decorative concrete depends
on many factors:
- Location
- is the area difficult to access?
- Square
footage - how large is the area?
- Type
of concrete: continuous flow, colored, stamped, exposed aggregate
- Complexity
of the project: multiple colors, borders, steps and radius edges
require additional time and labor and thus will increase overall
costs

- What
are my color options?
- There
are a numerous color selections available for the concrete. A
release agent applied to the colored concrete adds depth and variations
in color, mimicking the appearance of real stone or brick. Typically
one chooses a release agent in a darker tone than the base concrete,
but this is a choice left up to each individual.

- Will
the color in my decorative concrete last?
- The
pigments used to color the concrete are made from finely milled
synthetic iron oxides which are the strongest and most stable
colors available. These colors are lime-proof, sunfast, and do
not react with chemicals.
- Do
I have to seal the stamped concrete?
- No,
you don't "have to", but sealing does protect the concrete
from nature's elements. It can also enhance the look of the concrete
as it brings out the color variations. Look at the photo below
to see the difference in appearance when the concrete is sealed.

- What
are control joints? Are they necessary?
- Control
joints are cuts made in the concrete to help the concrete crack
in a straight line. All concrete will eventually crack. Cuts are
necessary because without them your concrete will crack in its
own pattern, instead of the one we made for it. There is no guarantee
that concrete will not crack in another spot.
- How
do I take care of my stamped concrete?
- It
should be washed with water and should be sealed every 2-3 years.
It should be kept free of salt.
- Where
can I see some examples?
- You
can view examples on our website in the Project
Photos section or you can see examples of colors and patterns
in person by going to Sensational Styles & Spa, 103
North Avon Ave., Avon, MN. Behind the salon you'll find a "sample"
sidewalk that displays the various patterns and colors.
